Median Household Income
According to the latest data from the US Census Bureau, the median household income (MHI) in the United States in 2023 was $77,719. Which begs the question: Where do the MHIs of each state rank—and which ones fall above and below the American average? We also thought it would be interesting to throw in each state's MHI and rank from a decade earlier in 2013. And just for reference—the MHI in the country was $52,250 in 2013.
